Cludo Club

 Gordano Valley Church, Portishead

For 23 years, members and volunteers from ‘Gordano Valley Church’ have been running ‘Cludo Club’ for Key Stage 1 & 2 children.  This year 230 registered ’on line’ to attended the week long club.   Georgina Varney, Project Manager for ‘the Owl and the Pussycat’ project was asked to make a return visit to run the ‘Our World’ workshop.  On the Wednesday afternoon the children choose a workshop to take part in, which included ‘Circus Skills’, ‘Craft’, ‘Football’, ‘Drama’, ‘Rounders’ and ‘Our World’.    The children, and helpers, really enjoyed making houses and cleaning shoes.  One person said, “You forget just what we have compared with others in our world”.

On Thursday afternoon, all 230 children, plus helpers, visit ‘Ashton Park’ to play games and ride on the miniature railway. The sun was out for the first time that week!

Oasis Coffee Shop

Bethel Baptist Church, Pontyclun, South Wales

                                                                                  Diane, Gill and Babs

We would like to say a big ‘thank you’, to the team of ladies who run the Oasis Coffee Shop.  Every Thursday morning they are open to serve tea, coffee and homemade cakes.   The Café is very popular with people in the village, and they are always very busy.  Each month, the money they raise goes to support a different charity, and recently they chose ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’.

Georgina Varney, our Project Manager, managed to call in at the church and thank them personally for their support.   She said, “The Café was buzzing with conversations and the sound of little children playing, and having fun.”  Naturally, she did have time for coffee and a slice of cake!

HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We are so pleased to tell you that due to your generous support, we have been able to provide six!!!!

A Huge ‘Thank You’ To Those Who Took Part In This project!

The Story Behind One Bike

Following an assembly at ‘Straits Primary School’, taken by Georgina, the ‘School Council’ asked if they could be part of this project and help raise money to buy a bike for Uganda.   The children were very excited to take part in the project, and the school arranged a special ‘mufti day.  On the day, Georgina spent the morning in the school, and class-by-class, the children came to the hall to help build the word ‘Bike’ out of the coins they had collected.  There were so many coins, that they also made two bicycle wheels.  The children did a fantastic job in raising enough money to buy their own bike.

Well done to all the Staff and Pupils at Straits Primary School.

The children have helped to make a difference in our world.

Helping Hands Project

200 children attend Jana School in Zambia, and we would like to provide a gift to help them purchase books, or other school equipment.  If you would like to get involved in the ‘Helping Hands Project’ please contact Georgina at the office 01384 346562.  We are encouraging children to raise money by using their hands to do small jobs, possibly around the house or at school.  We would love to hear what ideas the children could think of to help?  Just imagine if everyone gave 50p, it would not take long to collect enough money to buy some books.

We could make a difference to the lives of the children who attend Janna School!
